The word "Ugidali" (Cherokee origin) literally translating to feather, was the inspiration for this painting of a heroic Native American woman. Traditionally, the privilege of wearing a headdress must be earned, with the type of headdress revealing the rank of the individual who wears it. Often made of the fur and feathers of sacred animals, Headdresses are thought to bestow the power of the animals to the wearer.
